Rugby is a constant moving game. It offers every second of excitement. You tackle, you run with the ball. You can’t get
everyone to do that. You can be anyone, any age and play rugby and have a complete blast playing it. For someone who is going to play contact sport, there is no safer game
than rugby. You look at kids and you see kids running around having fun, throwing the ball around. The sooner you can get playing rugby the more fun you’ll have in life. The culture of rugby is all inclusive,
you need every shape and size and every single person. You rely on the guy
beside you. If he doesn’t do his job it’s pretty hard to do yours. It’s a true team
sport that needs every single member on that team to be successful. The respect
of the game is written in the laws, it’s inherent to rugby. After a game, shaking hands and going out to have a dinner together, I think it’s something that’s pretty
special. That’s what we love about it. Hard work, resilience, perseverance, the transferable skills that go from the rugby pitch into the
office are immeasurable. Rugby has given me confidence, it’s given me the ability to lead others and to understand what friendship really looks like. When I first started playing, I had no idea there was a U.S. team, that
there was a World Cup and so after a couple of years of playing, I felt in my
heart this sport is going to be monstrous. Future for rugby in America is extremely
promising. I definitely see every high school and every college having
rugby programs and that starts from moms and dads signing up their
kids early. If they start then more and more people do that then yeah it’s gonna be
tough for everyone else around the world I think, but it’s a good thing to see. It’s one of the most fun things I’ve
ever done in my life and that’s why I can’t get away from it. It’s a Division One sport, it’s an Olympic sport. Get your kid a scholarship by playing rugby and understand that there is a future for
them.
